How strange is this?

I guess we have the desirable back yard in the neighborhood....My kids are asleep already and I looked out my back window to see 6 neighborhood kids playing out back. There are only 5 in the picture because one is off to the other side. I just wish Alaina was awake to go out and play with them. I'm half tempted to get her up.

Not actually getting her up......that would be asking for problems.....but tempted!

Golf

Ok, I know I went overboard on the pictures tonight, but I don't care. There were too many cute ones.

Here is Alaina getting ready to water our yard.

Leo in the trampoline with his bunny.
Here is a picture that I took of Leo and me that turned out better than I expected, so I'm posting it.
Alaina helped Daddy set up the tent thing to hit golf balls into.
Then here is Alaina getting ready to golf with Daddy tonight. (too cute!)
Practice swings...
Stretching!!!
Great form!
Swinging at the same time.
She hit the ball! You can see it at the bottom of the picture...
I love this picture! You can see the dirt and ball flying!

Alaina (and Dave) have really been getting into golf. It is really fun to watch!

Visitors

Last night we had Dave's cousin Zach come to visit us. He was driving through on his way home from the cities. It was great to see him again and it sounds like he is stopping again next Sunday! Also, Dave's parents are coming up next weekend and my grandparents are stopping by on their way through. It is going to be a crazy busy weekend next weekend. In the midst of it all, Dave and I are going to attempt to go on a date Saturday night. We will see how that goes.

Anyhow, the kids really enjoyed hanging out with Zach. He is really great with kids. Unfortunately in this picture, Alaina was more interested in watching Dora than smiling for the camera.
Today we played outside with the baby pool and the sprinkler. While Alaina and the kids I babysit for played in the water, I made a fort out of the trampoline for Leo so that he could be out of the sun. For the most part, he had a really great time in it. Our neighbor also brought over her 6 month old boy (only a week older than Leo) and he hung out in the trampoline as well.
After Alaina woke up from her nap and before Leo woke up from his, Alaina wanted to hold Leo. Leo slept through it all and Alaina was so good about holding him and talking softly to him. It was so cute!!!

She is going to be a good Mommy someday!

We lived in a desert for too long!

Yesterday was a gorgeous day! It was in the 80's and sunny until dinner time when we got hammered with thunderstorms. It came out of the blue. Alaina looked out of the patio door and saw it raining. She then looked at me upset and said, "Uh Oh! Daddy spilled!" My poor daughter has seen rain so few times that she assumed that because it was wet outside, someone spilled something, and of course Mommy would never spill anything (yeah right...) so it must have been Daddy. Anyhow, that had Dave and I laughing for at least 5 minutes. Alaina laughed right along with us. Now we are waiting for a nice gentle rain that we can all go out and play in. Maybe then, next time it rains, Alaina will know that it is rain and Daddy didn't spill.

Tonight I got a few pictures of Leo attempting to crawl. He now can get up on his hands and knees but either falls forward without moving his hands or tries to move a hand and looses balance. He can army crawl and log roll to get where he wants to go, but he is still trying to get the hang of the traditional crawl. He and Daddy matched today! Completely unplanned, but cute!

Choosing Battles

I know when you are a parent, you have to choose your battles. Tonight at dinner I did not choose to fight with Alaina about wearing goggles to the dinner table. I figured, no harm, no foul. That, of course, didn't stop me from taking pictures of her eating with her goggles on at the dinner table.

Today Alaina and Leo wore their outfits that Great-Grandma Hathway brought them home from Mexico. Thank you Grandma! They fit wonderful and Alaina loved to dance and spin in her dress!

Good Grief!

So, if anyone else out there has a 2 year old and a baby and decides to save time by letting the 2 year old feed the baby...take my advice...Don't! The time that you will save by not having to feed the baby will be used to give the baby a bath.

Here is what happened when I let Alaina feed Leo his pears:

He looked just as excited eating them:

Alaina, on the other hand, had a blast!

So, after Alaina finished dinner tonight, she asked me if she could feed the baby. Leo wasn't finished eating so I agreed. I didn't know that she would miss his mouth as many times as she did. Even though Leo didn't look too happy in the pictures, he did have a lot of fun with Alaina feeding him. I think he did more laughing than eating...

Playdough

I don't have a ton of time to post, but I wanted to send out a few pictures quick. I am babysitting right now and the kids are asleep, but I know my time is limited. So, without further ado...

On Sunday Alaina got her first playdough set. She loves it. I was making shapes for her to name when I first got it out. She quickly got annoyed and told me, "Alaina busy! No!" and wouldn't talk to me anymore. I would have been offended if it hadn't amused her for over 2 hours of playing primarily by herself.

Daddy cuddled with both of his babies yesterday morning.
Alaina moved the dog bed, put all of her dolls and animals in it and read them a book. She started out by saying, "OK." then she babbled about the pictures and finished with a big, "Amen!" It was so cute to watch!
Last night Alaina and Leo got corn on the cob for the first time. We only got it in Texas once or twice because they don't grow much corn in Texas and it just wasn't up to the Wisconsin standard.
Leo screamed until I got him his own ear.

Hope you are all having a great week!

Army Family Weekend

This weekend was army family weekend for Dave. That meant that we all got to go to drill with him today. They did the formation this morning and then this afternoon everyone went to a campground for a potluck lunch and a camping weekend. We went to the potluck, but there was no way I was going camping with a 6 month old and a 2 year old. Come to think of it, I really don't care for camping period unless it is in a hotel with a pool.....therefore, we already have come home in time for a late nap. Come tonight I will be very thankful that I am in my own bed instead of a sleeping bag on the ground.

Last night while we were packing, Dave was hanging out with Leo. I couldn't resist getting a picture of Leo with Packer stuff on while playing with Dave. Look how happy Leo looks to be a Packer fan! I think he is trying to convince Daddy to be a Packer fan with him....

Because it is Army, here are the red, white, and blue cherry squares I made:
Daddy in formation.
Daddy in formation with Alaina watching.

It was a really fun day, but it is nice to be home. We had to leave at 5:30am to get there on time, so we are all a little sleep deprived. Unfortunately, it is light here at 5:30, so when Alaina got up and was put in the car, she didn't go back to sleep. I'm looking forward to a lazy day tomorrow!

Happy Baby

Tonight Leo rolled around and into the dogs bed. He is finally in a good mood today after getting not one, but TWO teeth in this morning. He didn't have them when he woke up but had 2 teeth by lunchtime. What a guy! I hope this means he will sleep well tonight!

Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July everyone (one day late). I hope that you all had a great night! We had a lot of fun here. We did a few small fireworks and Alaina loved the sparklers. When the fireworks went off she said, "More Sparkles!" That is off course, the fireworks that were further away because she was scared of the noise from the close ones.

Earlier in the day Leo wore Alaina's glasses.

And Alaina and Jasmine danced with Alaina's 12 Dancing Princesses movie.

Then we did fireworks.

Dave set them off.

Alaina ate her toast this morning into the shape of a dog. She had the model underneath the table begging.
After her nap, Alaina and I painted together. She made a mess.....
And then played out back with the popper firework things with Dave.

Have a great weekend!!
