Bike Riding: Takes 1-7

First off, check out what Alaina gave Leo. Go figure, he was thrilled....

And we're off....
And one last random picture of Leo watching Alaina ride her bike.

See, we do sometimes ride bikes during the day :)

We did stay out until after dark again tonight though.....

Yesterday

We had a pretty good day yesterday. Alaina got a card from her Grandma Jane. She read it by herself. (Notice the card is upside-down....)

After dinner we went outside to play. It was cold enough for hats. Neither kid minded the cold. Hopefully we will all survive the winter after being spoiled in Texas for the last 2 years.
Alaina hasn't learned how to push her bike when she rides into the grass and can't get it out. I have tried to teach her, but she insists on dragging the bike.
She gave her doll a ride last night in the basket.
"Mom, I didn't get into the M&M's! I promise!"
"Mom, I didn't give Leo M&M's!"
"OK, we ate M&M's together and they were good!"
It's almost the weekend!

New Bike!

Alaina got her first real bike tonight! We picked it up around 7 tonight and let her ride around on it for a while. She did awesome! She had a blast!

Here is a video of her riding her bike. And yes, she did crash into me......She is still trying to figure out the brakes.....

Sorry the video is sideways. I don't know how to rotate it! Then again, I just watched it and it may be more amusing sideways.....

Last night was Hibachi style fried rice. I'm working on tweaking the recipe to be more authentic. Leo loved it though and all of the leftovers were polished off at lunch today.

He now refuses to eat anything that even kind of resembles baby food. He won't eat it unless everyone else is.
Last night Dave hooked up the VCR. Today we put in a VHS from when I was a kid. It's called Kidsongs. They loved it. The kids were basically in a trance watching these kids sing. It was awesome. I rewound it (Which confirmed my love for DVD and a menu button...) and they watched it again. Same undivided attention. Even Leo messing with them got no response. We are asking for the Kidsongs DVDs for Christmas.
Look at these faces!!
By the way, that is Zach, our neighbor who Alaina loves playing with!

Oh, by the way, I found this bike on an awesome website group. It is called freecycle. People post things that they want to give away (no selling or trading--only no strings attached free things) or that they need (and would like for free). It is great! You can get rid of things quickly and you can usually find things you need. They have groups for most regions. I love it! Anyway, we have been looking for bikes anyway and you can't beat free. It even has a basket for her dolls to ride along.

I hope you are all having a great week!

More picture editing!

Dave played with this picture and got some cool results!

Time for bed. It is 10:05 and I'm still playing on the computer. This photo editing is addicting!

New Editing Program

This weekend I was going through my pictures wishing that I could edit them better than my current software would let me. I looked through free online editing software and found Gimp. It is not user friendly, but you can do just about anything with it. I love it! I wish it were easier to use, but I love it none-the-less. I first tried a program called Picasa which is very easy to use and does a lot more than what I had, but I wanted to be able to do more. With Dave's help I made this collage to try to figure out some of the features. Then using Wal-Mart online photo I was able to send it to Hawaii and Laura picked it up last night. I love technology!

Sorry that there are no new pictures. I have been sidetracked with this project. Happy Monday!

Happy Fall!

First of all, we had a big morning. Leo got his haircut and I took the kids to get their pictures taken at Wal-Mart. I took a picture of the picture that we are having made with my cell phone so I can post it. But you will have to wait until the end of the post to see it!!

I stole Carolynn's idea of a leaf wreath and Alaina, Leo, and I collected leaves for Alaina to make a wreath for our door. She picked out all of the leaves and glued them together. I didn't realize how much I missed the leaves changing color while I was in Texas!

Here is a picture of Leo (eating a french fry last night....long story, I'll explain later...) before his big haircut at the barber shop today. His only other haircut was from me, so this time we took him to the big boy barber shop (that only cuts men and boy's hair!!).

Here is Leo this morning after his haircut. I can't believe how old he looks!
Ok, so the story behind the french fry....Last night I had ribs ready for Dave to grill when he got home from work. I had parboiled them and had cornbread muffins ready for the oven. He went out to start the grill and realized he didn't have enough charcoal. So, I went to the gas station to pick some up. As he was bringing the food out to grill we realized we didn't have enough BBQ sauce to make them. We then went to Wendy's. We went to the store later last night to pick up BBQ so we can have it tonight or tomorrow for lunch. BBQ-ing last night just wasn't meant to be...

They say never to underestimate your kids. Well, I learned yesterday never to overestimate your kids. Alaina got a package of markers for the first time and did awesome coloring with them. She was doing so well, that I left her for 2 minutes to go put clothes in the washing machine. Big mistake!! This is how I found her. She gave herself a mustache.
And finally, here is the picture that I took of the computer screen at Wal-Mart of the picture we are having printed. I am taking them in tomorrow to get Packers pictures taken.

Obviously, the resolution will be much better when it is printed. I will try to get a picture of the Packers picture tomorrow to post. Hope you all have a great weekend!

Lots of pictures

Last night Leo was asleep on my lap and Alaina was playing with Daddy on the other end of the couch. The camera was on the desk behind me so I was able to grab it and get some pictures of Daddy and Alaina playing. They were all so cute, I couldn't decide which to post, so I'm posting them all.

He is such a good Daddy!

New Accomplishments

Both Alaina and Leo have had a few new accomplishments over the last 2 days. Today Alaina prayed for dinner all by herself. We had her do it again and took a video. And then yesterday Leo took a step by himself.

My babies are getting so old!!!

Remember that cute little lady bug...?

Yeah, that cute lady bug that Alaina found on the window sill yesterday and carried around for hours? I posted pictures of it 2 days ago. It was so cute and I really didn't mind having a lady bug in my house. I mean, what harm can a lady bug do? That was before lady bugs infested my house today. I spent most of this afternoon wandering around with my vacuum cleaner out using the attachments to go lady bug hunting. I no longer like lady bugs.....Exept for this one....(Alaina's first Halloween)

Leo has now started to refuse baby food. He will only eat real people food and he will only eat it if he is the one putting it in his mouth. He won't let me feed him anymore :(

Yesterday he ate BBQ Pork and Mac and Cheese for lunch. Yummm! He even fed some to the dog. Bandit liked it too. He no longer begs from Alaina. His spot is right under Leo.

Well, time to watch more of the Viking game. Go Vikings! (Yep, I know. I can't believe I'm cheering for them either...)

Partners in Crime

While I have been sick, Alaina and Leo have become partners in crime. They gang up on me and get into stuff together. All I have been able to do is sit on the couch, laugh, and take pictures. Such as on Thursday morning they dumped out the crayons all over the kitchen floor.

Then Leo came up to me covered in crayon. Good thing Crayola is non-toxic....
Then they took out every peice of tupperwear I own and spread it throughout the downstairs.
This morning we got the first frost of the year. It seems like late fall is coming early this year. It is pretty chilly outside. Our high is around 55 or 60 for the next 10 days.
Alaina found a lady bug while looking at the frost.

We eventually poked holes in the lid of a baby food container and put the lady bug and some grass in it. She carried around that lady bug all morning. She named her Two.

Tonight we went out to dinner. After dinner we went to SAM'S Club and on the way home Alaina put on her goggles and passed out cold.
She is asleep on the couch right now. We tried to wake her up and her favorite movie is playing, but she is still asleep. As soon as I'm done posting, I'll put her in PJ's and bring her up to bed. I'm guessing she just needs the extra sleep right now.

Bottle the Moment

Today after Leo's nap he snuggled up and fell asleep in my lap. What I wouldn't do to be able to bottle up this moment. Having a baby fall asleep on you is by far the best thing in the world.

On Sunday Alaina went and got a football and asked the neighbor boy to play football with her. They threw the ball back and forth.
And chased eachother.
Fell down.
And started all over again.
They had so much fun!
Leo tried to ride on Alaina's four-wheeler.
On Monday night it was pretty cool. Bandit went outside, got cold, and ran inside to bury his way under the pile of blankets on the couch.
This morning Alaina shared her water with Leo. She is so helpful!
So, these are the pictures from this last week. Over the next few weeks, the posts will probably be few and far between. On Monday afternoon I got sick and went to the doctor. Unfortunately, he told me I have Mono. I have been ridiculously tired and have very little motivation to take pictures, much less post them. I'll still try to post a few times, but we'll see.

Hope everyone else is doing well!
Wendy

PS--If anyone has any good ideas for activities for the kids that can be done with me sitting on the couch, I would really appreciate it!!!!
